The chooks come home!!

Phil fundraising

In Lyttelton, phil collecting for the blind dogs - Bayleys sponsor them. Sam accompanying him, complete with red tea towell/neckerchief...everyone apparently asked if they could pat the dog "while he was working"...

A couple of tummy shots 29 weeks-ish

Getting the chooks..

So, today we went to Little River - a beautiful spot out of Chch to get the chooks. They were free range with one of the most beautiful views i've ever seen (hopefully you can see in pics) . So, we came away with four chooks, in a cardboard box in the back of the car with instructions on what to do and what not to do...And as much as i had asked phil for us not to get ones with "beady eyes" and "the red wobbly things on their heads" - alas, our chooks have both. There was alot of flapping of the wings and pecking near toes, but all in all, not as bad as i thought it would be completely surrounded by chickens.

But they are home now and fed and watered and straw-ed and in their new housey. The dogs were frantic, zules was rigid with excitement watching them through the fence..... I hasten to add, i have not actually touched ours properly yet...they keep on looking at me with their eyes... and those claws - you should see the claws!!!!!

Getting ready for the chooks..

Phil making the chook house. Thanks to "bubbles" who previosuly lived in the hutch, that has now been converted into the chooks bedroom.
